Poet’s Night Out – A Moment in Time

In celebration of National Poetry Month, four local poets—Joyce Benvenuto, Aram Kabodian, Rosalie Sanara Petrouske, and Ruelaine Stokes—will give a reading on Thursday, April 11, 7:30 p.m., at the East Lansing Library, 950 Abbot Rd. The theme for the evening will be “A Moment in Time.”

There will be a Q. and A. after the performance, and books will be available for signing. Poet Anita Skeen will serve as moderator.

Benvenuto taught English and creative writing at Haslett Public Schools for 18 years. She is the author of two collections of poetry: A Grand River, and Poem Journey. Her next book of poems about the southwest will be published in the fall.

Aram Kabodian taught English at both middle and high school level for many years with a short stint teaching math. He is a teacher consultant with the Red Cedar Writing Project and leads Spartan Writing Camps for youth through MSU.

Rosalie Sanara Petrouske founded Writing at the Ledges in 2005, a local writing group. She has published poems and essays, her most recent: What We Keep, a chapbook; a poem in the MSU Press anthology; And Here: 100 Years of Upper Peninsula Writing, 1917-2017.

Ruelaine Stokes teaches workshops in creative writing and the art of spoken word. She taught English as a Second Language for many years at Michigan State University and Lansing Community College. She currently serves as President of the Lansing Poetry Club. Her poems are featured in Four Against the Wall.

WATL Authors at 45th Annual Island Art Fair, August 4, 2018

Are you planning to attend the Island Art Fair this weekend? Check out Writing at the Ledges in booth #22. Release Celebration for Promptly Speaking

You are cordially invited to attend Writing at the Ledges’ release celebration for our new anthology, Promptly Speaking. Join us for refreshments, to listen to Promptly Speaking authors read short pieces of their work, and to enjoy browsing Everybody Reads, Books and Stuff wonderful collection of books and gift items.  Authors will gather on Friday, June 22 from 5 – 7 p.m.  Everybody Reads is located at 2019 East Michigan  Avenue, Lansing.

 

Writing at the Ledges Author’s Book Signing at Think Outside the Books

Join us on Saturday, June 23 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Think Outside the Books for a group signing with FIVE authors who are all a part of the creative writing group, Writing at the Ledges. The group has four published anthologies. Their newest anthology, Promptly Speaking, features stories and poems born of various writing prompts. The book includes tips on writing and provides prompts suited for writers of all experience levels! Think Outside the Books is located at 2547 Ellsworth Drive, Ypsilanti, MI  48197.

Island Art Fair

Writing at the Ledges will have two booths at the 44th Annual Island Art Fair in Grand Ledge on August 5, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Several WATL authors will be in attendance with their books available for purchase and signing. Authors participating will be Lori Hudson aka Judith Wade (middle grade books); Randy Pearson (fiction); G.S.
